VICTOR WILLIAM ORF
(11/2/1917 - 4/25/2011)



Victor William Orf, age 93, of Memphis, Missouri passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.

Vic was the son of Stephen and Margaret Grote Orf. He was born November 2, 1917 in St. Clement, Missouri.

Vic was lovingly married to Hazel Hustedde in St. Clement, Missouri on April 30, 1946 and moved to Memphis in 1951. To this union four girls were born: Janice, Vicki, Debbie and Lori.

Surviving relatives are daughters, Janice Seeley and husband Jim, Vicki Long and husband Dean, Debbie Frederick and husband Richard, and Lori Trueblood and husband David. Grandchildren are Todd Anderson and wife Brandy, Shawn Anderson, Josh Newman and wife Liz, Jennifer McMinn and husband Ken, Jeff Frederick and wife Emily, Logan Trueblood and Cara Trueblood. Great-grandchildren are Ryan and Rylee Newman, Kaitlyn, Haylee and Jace McMinn, and Lilly and Addy Frederick.

Vic was in active duty with the US Army in WWII from March 3, 1942 - October 30, 1945. He was stationed in Europe as quartermaster for the Air Corp division. He received numerous medals including ETO, good conduct, and a victory medal. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Vic and Hazel owned and operated Orf's Liquor store for 13 years. Vic was then employed with the United States Postal Service in Memphis, MO for 30 years retiring May 3, 1986. Vic then kept books for his son-in-law at Dave's Auto Parts from 1986 to 1994.

Vic was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW Post 4958. He served as a member on the Memphis Country Club board and HUD housing board and was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church.

Vic loved to play golf, bowl, shoot pool, hunt, fish, and playing cards. Vice was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan. One of Vic's fondest memories as a teenager was playing for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball farm team. Vic's family and friends meant the world to him. God be with him.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Catholic Church or the Scotland County Care Center. Memorials can be left at or mailed to Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Visitation will be held at Payne Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 29 from 1 to 8. The Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church with Father Bill Kottenstette and Father Joseph Hoi officiating. Burial will be at the Memphis Cemetery. Pallbearers are Todd Anderson, Shawn Anderson, Josh Newman, Jeff Frederick, Logan Trueblood, and Ken McMinn. Honorary pallbearers are Jennifer McMinn and Cara Trueblood.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO.
