RONALD A. DAVIS
(3/13/1948 - 6/22/2011)

Ronald A. Davis, 63, of St. Louis died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

Ron was born the son of Harold and Hazel (Mayfield) Davis in St. Louis on March 13, 1948. He graduated from Scotland County High School, Hannibal-LaGrange College and Northeast Missouri State University.

He married the former Nancy Dye on June 29, 1969. She survives.

Ron was a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. In 1988, Ron and his partners opened Davis, Keller, and Klein in Creve Coeur, MO. He established many clients and friends throughout the United States. Ron had a lifetime membership in the Missouri Society of CPA's.

He was a member of the Mehlville Baptist Church, accepting Christ as a young boy during Vacation Bible School. He served in the church faithfully as long as his health permitted him to do so. He taught adult Sunday School and classes on personal finance, served on the Finance Committee, and served on the Personnel Committee. He was ordained as a deacon in the Southern Baptist Church when he was 26 years old. Ron was not only a Christian leader at church, but also in his daily life at work and at home. He always lived by God's principles and was the spiritual leader of his home.

Ron loved people and cherished all relationships. His theory was that if you want a real relationship, you must work on that relationship every day of your life. He enjoyed life and thought every day should be considered a gift. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and horseback riding. He was deemed the coach at horse shows for his daughters as they competed in barrel racing and pole bending events.

The girls told their father, "If you are to coach us why don't you try it."

"I think I will," he replied, and so he started barrel racing. He called it the best ride in the world.

Although Ron has gone home to be with God, may his life have been an inspiration and a sweet memory to all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Hazel Davis; mother and father-in-law Clark and Eva Dye.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home; daughters, Amy and husband Tom Heitman of Barnhart, MO and Amber Davis of St. Louis; a grandson, Henry Thomas Heitman IV of Barnhart; sister, Sharon Shinn of Memphis; sisters-in-law, Arleta Dye and fiancÚ Jim Houston of Memphis and Nadine and husband Wayne Palmer of Quincy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Gravesite services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Memphis Cemetery with the Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Memorials are suggested to Hannibal-LaGrange College or the Mehlville (MO) Baptist Church and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.

Condolences may be sent to the Davis family via email at gfs@nemr.net.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service of Memphis and Wyaconda.
