RITA CAROL JARVIS
(6/1/1949 - 9/4/2011)



Rita Carol Jarvis, 62, of Kansas City, Missouri, died peacefully on September 4, 2011, at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, Missouri.

She was born June 1, 1949, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the second of six children, to Ted and Ellen Fetters Gundy of Memphis, Missouri.

Rita grew up in Memphis, Missouri, and was a graduate of Memphis High School, Class of 1967. She was an accomplished businesswoman and a person of enduring faith. In her life, she was a foster parent, active parishioner, generous benefactor, breast cancer survivor, published author in marketing and a world traveler. She was a successful realtor and specialized in corporate relocation services. After working for several realty companies, including Brosius & Meyer in Topeka, Kansas, Paul Hamilton in Kansas City, Missouri and TransEquity in Omaha, Nebraska, Rita opened her own national relocation business, Suite Properties, in Omaha, Nebraska.

She is survived by her children, Danielle Elhabbal and her husband, Mo, and David Jarvis, both of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Samuel, Noah, Maddie, Emma, Harrison, Gabriel and Charlie Elhabbal; her father, Ted Gundy, of Memphis, Missouri; two sisters: Mary Ann Eager and her husband, Kenny, of Raytown, Missouri; Michele Garnett and her husband, Randy, of Memphis; three brothers: Mike Gundy and Mitch Gundy, both of Memphis and Kevin Gundy of Warsaw, Missouri. Other survivors include an uncle, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Gundy, her grandparents, John and Mary Cecilia Fetters, Charles (Duke) Gundy and a nephew, Luke Gundy.

The rosary, lead by Father Joseph Hoi, was recited on September 7. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, September 8 at St. John's Catholic Church in Memphis, Missouri, with Father James Buckley celebrating and Father Joseph Hoi, Concelebrant. Music was provided by Connie Courtney, accompanist and Lori Fulk and Christopher and Stanna Eager, vocalists. Burial followed in the Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jerell Barber, Eric DeRosear, Brandon Garnett, Cody Gundy, Michael Garnett and Randy Garnett. Honorary bearers were Tom Barickman, Mike Jackson and Jerry Swasfer.

To honor Rita's memory, a memorial may be made to Mount Michael Benedictine School and Abbey, Elkhorn, Nebraska or St. John's Catholic Church, Memphis, Missouri and may be left at or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
