RUTH PAULINE (ROLAND) CANTRIL
(12/10/1916 - 12/22/2011)



Ruth Pauline (Roland) Cantril, 95, of rural Memphis, MO passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO after an extended illness.

Ruth, daughter of Oliver S. and Rebecca Ann Purvis Roland of rural Memphis, was born on December 10, 1916 in Scotland County, MO. She attended Oak Forest School.

Ruth married Leland F. Cantril on September 14, 1947, where they lived for 64 years southeast of Memphis on their family farm.

Ruth's homemaking abilities will be remembered by those she leaves behind. Some of her many skills included sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening and cooking. She valued reading her Bible and sharing her faith with others. She was baptized into Christ at the age of sixteen and was an active member of the First Christian Church in Memphis as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Rollie Roland; and in the year 2000, by a daughter Marjorie Lohman.

Ruth is survived by her husband Leland F. Cantril of rural Memphis; daughters: Annabelle Easley and husband Merlin of Elmer, MO; Mary Wright and husband Roger of Vincennes, IN; Elaine Fuller and husband Elmer of St. Peters, MO; and 17 grandchildren: Rebecca May, Katherine Dittman, James Lohman, Jr., Joseph Lohman, Alisha Lohman, Troy Easley, Ryan Easley, Kyle Easley, Sarah Cathey, Tabitha Durham, Samuel Wright, Paul Wright, Benjamin Wright, Tammy Hurst, Nathanael Fuller, Andrew Fuller and Rachel Fuller; also fifteen great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church of Memphis, Missouri or Central Christian College of the Bible, Moberly, Missouri and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Memphis with Brother Jack Sumption officiating. Interment followed in the Concord Cemetery south of Memphis. Musicians were Joe and Lori Fulk: vocalists and Angela Westhoff: pianist. Pallbearers were Troy, Ryan and Kyle Easley, Paul, Samuel, and Benjamin Wright, Andrew and Nathanael Fuller, and Joseph and James Lohman, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Cantril and Brian Gutting.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
