Lady Tigers Bury Gophers With 17-0 Second Quarter Run

After a long week at the North Shelby Tournament, Scotland County looked a little tired on Monday night when the Lady Tigers hosted Green City, and understandably so.

Unfortunately for the Gophers, SCR-I caught its second wind, and then some erasing an 8-7 deficit in the second period en route to a 57-13 victory.

Scotland County buried the Gophers in the second period with a 17-0 run that saw six Lady Tigers get into the score book led by Ashley Tague with five points.

Sklyer Alderton canned a pair of three pointers in the third period as the onslaught continued. Freshman Hailey Dial also connected from behind the arc and had five of Scotland County's 23-points in the quarter that pushed the lead to 47-12.

After allowing Green City to jump out to the 8-7 advantage, Scotland County's defense limited the Gophers to just five points in the final 24 minutes of play.

Even with a running clock for the final eight minutes of play, Scotland County still tacked on 10 more points as the ladies rolled to the 57-13 win.

Scotland County (10-4) was led in scoring by Alderton with 11 points. Ahsley Tague finished with 10 points and Jamie Shaw had eight points as did Megan Creek. Dial had seven points in just her second varsity contest.
