Alderton's Big Night Leads SCR-I Past Milan 49-38

The lone member of Scotland County's front court not currently on crutches stood up huge for the Lady Tigers on Friday night in Milan. Skyler Alderton canned five three pointers to help lead SCR-I to the 49-38 victory.

It was Scotland County's two newest starters that helped the team get off to a fast start. Courtney Jackson and Aimee Dale combined to score 12 of the 15 first period points for the Lady Tigers.

Three pointers by Alderton, Hailey Dial and Ashley Tague accounted for all the second quarter scoring as Scotland County led 24-16 at the break.

Alderton caught fire in the third quarter, hitting three shots from behind the arc. That helped SCR-I build a 39-26 advantage with just eight minutes to play.

"She hit a really big three right before the half that gave us the momentum," said coach Jaryt Hunziker on Alderton's performance. "That's been the case all year long. She has a knack for hitting three pointers at key moments."

Milan outscored the lady Tigers 12-10 in the fourth period but it was too little, too late.

Alderton finished with 17 points to lead all scorers. Ashley Tague was the second leading scorer with seven points.

Milan was led in scoring by Jordon Dunlap with 16 points.

Scotland County improved to 12-4 on the year and 5-1 in the Tri-Rivers Conference.
