La Plata Pulls Out One-Point Win Over Lady Tigers

A first quarter cushion disappeared late for Scotland County on Friday night in La Plata as the home squad rallied for a 31-30 victory.

SCR-I opened the game with a 10-2 run as Aimee Dale and Jamie Shaw dominated the paint.

Scotland County got field goals from Hailey Dial, Ashley Tague and Dale in the second period but La Plata trimmed the deficit to 17-10 at the break.

The Lady Bulldogs got hot from the perimeter in the third period. Emily Snodgrass and MaKay Belt hit three pointers that fueled a 13-6 La Plata run that knotted the score at 23-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

Scotland County managed just two field goals in the game's final eight minutes. Dial hit a three pointer to keep SCR-I in striking distance. La Plata left the door open by missing several free throws late, but SCR-I was unable to take advantage.

Scotland County fell to 14-5 on the year with the loss. Tague finished with 10 points to lead SCR-I. Dale added seven points and Shaw finished with six. La Plata was led in scoring by Belt with 10 points and Emily Heissel with eight points.
