Campus Bowl Team Competes in WGEM Academic Challenge

The Scotland County varsity campus bowl team started their season at the WGEM Academic Challenge. The tournament was hosted at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois on Friday, February 18th.

This academic tournament is a single-elimination tournament. The Scotland County team faced Payson-Seymour in their first game. Scotland County was victorious with a score of 230-80. This win moved Scotland into the afternoon round where they faced a very competitive Quincy Notre Dame team. Scotland lost that game with a score of 110- 230.

The second game was taped in the John Wood Community College auditorium with Brian Inman serving as the event's moderator. The event will be aired by WGEM FOX on Saturday, February 26th at 6:30 p.m. and again on WGEM NBC on Sunday, February 27th at 10:30 p.m.

Scotland County team members are Thomas Shannan, Augusta Purvis, Brandon Monroe, Morgan Carleton, Samantha Tobler, Chris Smeltser, and Emily Ebeling. Team members Joshua Keller and Lee Tague were unable to attend. The team is coached by Mrs. Andrea Brassfield. The Varsity Campus Bowl Team will compete again at the Monroe City tournament on Saturday, February 26th.
