SCR-I Crushes Canton 53-37 in District Opener

Scotland County looked like a team on a mission as the Class 2 District 6 Tourney opened March 1st in Queen City. SCR-I jumped out to a big lead in the second period and cruised to the 53-37 victory over Canton.

The Lady Tigers blanked Canton in the first period, building an 8-0 lead behind three pointers from Ashley Tague and Skyler Alderton.

The duo both connected on another shot from behind the arc in the second period and Jamie Shaw poured in six points to push the lead to 25-11 at the break.

Aimee Dale took over the scoring load in the third period, scoring all 10 of her points to fuel a 17-8 run that made the score 42-19.

Canton got hot from three point range in the final period but it wasn't enough as SCR-I held on for the 53-27 win.

Tague finished with 15 points to lead Scotland County. Dale had 10 points and Shaw finished with eight.
