Tigers Drop Baseball Home Opener to Canton

What was a 2-1 game early on quickly got away from Scotland County as the Tigers dropped their home opener to Canton 17-2 on March 22nd.

SCR-I fell to 0-2 on the year despite the fact they were only outhit by Canton 6-5 on the night. The visitors took advantage of some wildness on the part of the SCR-I pitchers. The Tigers hurlers walked 12 and also hit two batters on the evening in a game that was shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule.

The Tigers fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning.

SCR-I rallied to trim the deficit in the bottom of the inning. Sabe Sears led off with a single and scored on a ground out by Brock Bondurant.

Highland tacked on three more runs in the second to make it 5-1 before blowing the contest open with a huge fourth inning.

Scotland County tallied its other run in the bottom of the fourth. Drew Miller singled and came around to score on a double by Bondurant.

Harley Stone took the loss for the Tigers on the mound. He recorded five strikeouts.

Sabe Sears was 2-3 at the plate with a run scored. Bondurant was 1-2 with 2 RBI. Miller and Cordie Kigar recorded the other hits for Scotland County.
