Coaching Assignments Announced For 2011-12 School Year

Sports fans following Scotland County R-I High School will find a few new faces leading the troops in 2011-12 after the SCR-I board of education recently assigned coaching duties for the upcoming school year.

Marc Colvin will continue to serve as the SCR-I athletic director, working with a number of veteran coaches. Kim Small will continue duties as the varsity softball coach with Lance Campbell serving as assistant coach. Jaryt Hunziker will handle the junior high softball duties.

Brent Bondurant returns to lead the Tigers football program. His assistant coaches will include Andy Mallett as well as newcomer Daniel Burns.

The winter sports will not see many changes. Campbell returns to head the varsity boys program. Hunziker will coach the varsity girls team. His new junior varsity coach will be Burns. The boys junior varsity and both junior high coaching jobs will be assigned later.

Kara Hamlin will return to lead the varsity track program. Hunziker and Small will handle the junior high track jobs.

Burns was named the new varsity baseball coach, replacing TJ Duncan, who left the district after one year. Mallett will return as the assistant coach.

Dave Shalley will serve as varsity and junior varsity golf coach.

Hamlin will also return as the cheerleader sponsor, with Marie Brown in charge of Poms and Angie Cochran leading the flags program.
