Lady Tigers Mash Milan 14-4 For Conference Win

Randi Slaughter fires the throw in from the outfield after she and Elizabeth Duzan converged on a flyball during softball action versus Milan last week.

Runs came early and often for Scotland County on September 20th as the Lady Tigers mashed Milan 14-4 for the team's first conference win of the season.

SCR-I set the tone early. The first batter of the night for the home team, Megan Creek, crushed a homerun over the fence. The power display was not finished. Senior Loren Smith also launched a long ball that cleared the wall to put her team on top 3-0.

Scotland County added to the cushion in the second inning with a two-out rally. Courtney Jackson and Creek walked before Randi Slaughter delivered a RBI single. After Bethany Rader was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Brianna Priebe cleared them with a three-run double to make it 7-0.

A pair of errors in the top of the third allowed Milan to trim the deficit to 7-1.

The offense went back to work in the bottom of the frame. Dial and Kelsey Frazier walked. Dial scored when Elizabeth Duzan reached on an error. Creek delivered an RBI single and Rader drove in two with a double to push the margin to 11-0.

Milan tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the fourth to make it 11-3.

Duzan singled and stole a pair of bases before scoring on an RBI single by Slaughter in the bottom of the fifth.

After Milan tacked on a run in the top of the sixth, SCR-I closed out the contest with a pair of tallies to reach the 10-run rule.

Rader notched the victory on the mound. She allowed four runs, one earned, on four hits and one walk, while striking out six.

Creek went 3-4 at the plate with a homerun, three runs scored and 3 RBIs. Slaughter also was 3-4.

The win pushes SCR-I's record to 7-3 on the year and 1-1 in the Tri Rivers Conference.
