Fitness Center Unveils New Weight Loss Program

This year is welcoming a new weight-loss program at the Scotland County Fitness Center. Based on input from past year's participants and a trial run this summer, the original Biggest Loser Contest has taken on a new face.

"Not only are we doing away with the team concept, we have a totally different concept," stated organizer Suzie Lister. "This concept will equally reward those that have successfully participated, not just lost the most weight."

The new program will last eight weeks, with each individual required to pay an entry fee of $5, with an additional $1 weekly fee at weigh in.

"Should you gain any weight from weigh-in to weigh-in, you will pay an additional $2 that week," Lister said.

Weigh in will be each Thursday evening at the Fitness Center from 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.

At the end of the 8 week period, each person will be awarded multiple entries to put in the pot for the prize drawing. Lister indicated entries will be awarded for each week weighed, each week where you recorded a weigh in loss or remained the same weight, as well as bonus points for participation in different incentives on random weeks.

A drawing will be held for the cash prize pool on the final day, March 15th, and awarded to the individual who has successfully participated in the program.

To remain an active participant eligible to win the final prize, participants must weigh on the original weigh in night, and at least one time every three weeks and report for the final weigh in on March 15.

"New ideas are always a welcome change that may spur more participation," Lister stated. "Hope to see you January 19 at the Scotland County Fitness Center for the new and improved weight loss/maintenance program. Remember - you don't have to lose to participate. If you are actively seeking a way to maintain your weight program that you have worked on for years, here's a chance for you to be in the mix with others and have a chance to be rewarded."
