Memphis FFA Chapter Celebrates 2012 National FFA Week, February 18-25



The Memphis FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week February 18-25, 2012. The Memphis FFA officer team has coordinated the activities for FFA Week. The Memphis FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week February 18-25, 2012. "I Believe" is this year's theme, and it celebrates more than 80 years of FFA traditions while eagerly anticipating the organization's future. More than half a million nationwide members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels.

FFA members are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agricultural education and hands-on learning, they prepare for the more than 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry.

The Memphis FFA chapter has a full slate of activities planned to celebrate FFA week. Sunday the 19th they will attend a service at the Lighthouse Church of Faith in Official Dress, Tuesday the 21st they will celebrate the FFA colors by wearing Blue and Gold. Also that day, the Memphis FFA officers are holding a junior high recruitment program. Wednesday the 22nd all FFA members will wear official dress to school and will meet in the gym for a chapter picture, then the officers will go over to the elementary for the PALS program. Thursday the 23rd the FFA members will hold their annual pancake breakfast. Students will also wear their favorite FFA shirt on Thursday. Friday the 24th FFA members will drive their truck or tractor to school. Saturday the 25th the Memphis FFA chapter is holding their annual card party at 6:30 pm in the SCR-I high school commons.

The chapter officers are: Elizabeth Duzan- President, Abby Clatt- Vice President, Sarah Sites- Secretary, Summer Peterson- Treasurer, Jessica Clark- Reporter, Kylee Johnston- Sentinel, Tasha Eggleston-Wood- Parliamentarian, Taylar Eggleston-Wood- Chaplain.

National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company and Carhartt as a special project of the National FFA Foundation and annually encompasses February 22nd, George Washington's birthday.
