Well-Being Check Ends With Drug Arrest

A Memphis woman was ticketed for marijuana possession following a recent trip to the emergency room. According to the Memphis Police Department, Bonnie D. Elder, 47, was ticketed for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, February 13th, the MPD was summoned to Elder's apartment at 426 E Monroe Street after Elder's son had requested a well-being check.

The responding officer indicated the strong presence of marijuana odor after entering the apartment. Elder was transported to Scotland County Hospital and was admitted to the emergency room.

The police department was summoned back to the emergency room after a family-member identified what she believed to be marijuana in a prescription pill container in Elder's possession. The item was turned over to the ER attendees who contacted the police department.

Elder was cited for drug possession and was assigned a court date of March 6th.
