A Kahoka man sustained moderate injuries and three others were hurt in a two-car accident two miles south of Rutledge in Knox County on Saturday, April 14th.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, William A. Paul, 51, of Kahoka, was northbound on Route M in a 1991 Dodge Caravan when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone.

Paul attempted to avoid a south bound 2002 Pontiac driven by Joel M. Martin, 21, of Memphis.

The two cars collided nearly head on before coming to rest in the ditch.

Paul sustained moderate injuries in the crash and a passenger in his vehicle, Brandon K. Huett, 26, of Wyaconda suffered minor injuries. Both men were transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

Joel Martin and a passenger in his vehicle, Joseph B. Martin, 20, of Memphis, both sustained minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, Knox County Sheriff's Department and Knox County Fire and Rescue.

Both vehicles sustained total damage. The Paul vehicle was removed from the scene by Lakeside Towing of Memphis. The Martin vehicle was towed by the owner.
