Local Woman Hurt in Crash in Memphis
A Memphis woman suffered moderate injuries in a two vehicle accident on Highway 15 in Memphis at 6:48 p.m. on Monday evening.
According to the Memphis Police Department, Melissa Carter, 42, was southbound on Clay Street (Highway 15) in a 1991 Cadillac, when her car was struck in the driver's side by a 1995 Chevy Truck, which was westbound on Jefferson Street. The driver, Dillon Hager, 17, of Memphis, indicated he did not see the oncoming car due to the sun. As the truck attempted to cross Clay Street and continue west on Jefferson Street, it struck the Carter vehicle.
Carter's car came to rest off the east side of Clay Street in front of Bank of Memphis. Emergency service crews extricated her from the passenger side of the car and she was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital.
Hager, and an unidentified passenger in his truck, were not injured in the collision.
Hager's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Carter's car sustained extensive damage and was towed by Lakeside Towing.
The police department was assisted a the scene by the ambulance service, first responders, the Sheriff's Office and the Memphis Fire Department.
