A Keokuk, IA, man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Scotland County at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st.

According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, James D. Jairl, 20, was ticketed for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also ticketed for speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

A sheriff's deputy pulled over a silver Pontiac Bonneville driven by Jairl for speeding. The traffic stop occurred at the intersection of Route MM on Highway 136.

During a consent search of the vehicle, the officer uncovered a plastic bag filled with 4.5 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana, as well as nine empty containers and an electronic digital scale.
