Local Government Day Draws County Officials to Jefferson City
JEFFERSON CITY - State Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, reported a very productive day spent with officials from throughout the 18th Senatorial District who gathered in Jefferson City for the annual "Local Government Day."
"Our local leaders were updated directly by department officials within our state government," Sen. Munzlinger said. "Our 'Local Government Day' has proven to be important for the leaders from northeast Missouri who work effectively and efficiently in their communities. We had tremendous turnout, and I want to thank each and every person who attended and who helped to put the event together."
Among the featured speakers were Tom Durkin, Research Analyst with the Missouri Attorney General's office; Dan Haug, Director of Senate Appropriations; Alice Fast, Director of Local Government Audits, and Regina Pruitt, Assistant Director of Local Government Audits in the Missouri Auditor's office; Kevin Keith, Director of the Missouri Department of Transportation; Mark Kiesling, Project Manager for the Northeast and Northwest Missouri region within the Missouri Department of Economic Development; Patrick Lynn, Legislative Liaison with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources; and Jon Hagler, Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
"I have received quite a bit of positive feedback from both this and last year's 'Local Government Day,' and we are already in the process of planning the event for 2013," Sen. Munzlinger said. "In fact, other senators have been talking about following our lead and conducting their own versions of this event. Everybody I've talked with says this is a worthwhile event, and I hope everybody who has taken part will learn from the information shared and help make not only our district, but all of Missouri a better place."
Scotland County commissioner Danette Clatt and County Clerk Batina Dodge officials joined many fellow county government agents in Jefferson City to visit with Senator Munzlinger for the annual Local Government Day.
