Two Men Jailed After Allegedly Burglarizing Inmate's Home

Solid investigative work by the Memphis Police Department means a pair of Memphis men will be joining their victim in jail after the home of an inmate was burglarized on August 1st.

According to Police Chief Bill Holland, a residence at 120 N. Johnson was burglarized. The property's occupant, David Hulett, who was incarcerated in the Scotland County Jail at the time of the crime, reported on August 2nd that items had been stolen from his home, including a tattoo kit valued at $500.

Hulett identified a possible suspect and after numerous interviews, a pair of Memphis men were arrested for the crime.

Jeremy R. Norem, 38, of Memphis and Timothy A. Peterson, 48, of Memphis, were taken into custody on August 8th. Norem is being held in the Scotland County Jail on $15,000 cash only bond and Peterson is being held on $10,000 cash only bond. Both men have been charged with the class C felony of burglary in the second degree. Norem also faces a class C felony stealing charge and Peterson also faces a class A misdemeanor charge of stealing.
