Local Man Facing Felony Perjury Charge

Alleged false testimony at a local probation revocation hearing has landed a witness in hot water with local law enforcement.

According to the Memphis Police Department, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Patrick E. Bernand, 45, of Lancaster for the class D felony of perjury, stemming from his testimony in an August 24th hearing.

Court documents indicate that Bernand allegedly, while a witness under oath legally administered in the case State of Missouri vs. Kevin A Goosey, with the purpose to deceive, knowingly testified falsely to a material fact. The alleged false testimony related to Goosey's whereabouts in relation to a bond violation, which places him under house arrest nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Bernand is being held on $10,000 only cash bond on the class D felony charge of perjury. No court date has been announced yet.

Goosey had been out on bond, awaiting trial on a class B felony charge of distribution, delivery, manufacture, produce or attempt to or possess with intent to distribute, deliver, manufacture or produce a controlled substance, stemming from an April 2011 arrest.

At the August 24th hearing, his bond was revoked and he was ordered to return to jail.

The case recently received a change of venue from Scotland County to Knox County. The case is set for a jury trial to begin November 1st.
