Racing to Return to SCS During Memphis Fall Nationals

Trick-or-treaters will get an early delight the weekend before Halloween, especially if they are race fans. The Scotland County Speedway will be hosting the Memphis Fall Nationals October 25th-27th.

After sitting idle all summer, the track will come to life for the three-day event being organized by the Scotland County Fair Board and Southern Iowa Speedway promoter Mike Van Genderen.

Grandstand admission will be free on Thursday evening for the open practice that will begin at 7 p.m.

Hot laps will start at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, October 26th as racers in six classes will be vying for spots in the main event on Saturday evening. Grandstand admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children (7-13) with those six and under admitted free of charge.

Modified drivers will be battling it out for the top prize of $1,200. Stock cars and sports mods each will race for a $1,000 payday while hobby stocks and outlaw hobby stocks will each have a $600 grand prize. The four-cylinder sport compacts will also be in action. The top six finishers on Friday night will be automatically qualified for the main event Saturday.

Hot laps will begin at 5:30 p.m. with racing to open at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Grandstand admission for the main event will be $12 with children (7-13) admitted for $6.

The modified, stock cars and sports mods will all be racing IMCA rules. The outlaw hobby stock class will follow the Donnellson and Quincy raceway rules.

Both nights of racing will feature draw-redraw starts.

For more information on the event contact Van Gendered at 641-521-0330.
