Recycling Expert to Speak at RPC Annual Meeting in Memphis

Northeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission (NEMO RPC) and Solid Waste Management are honored to have as a special speaker Veronica Herzing, Office Manager and the Market Development Program Assistant for the Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority (EIERA) at their Annual Membership Meeting on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the VFW Post 4958, 123 West Monroe, Memphis.

The EIERA's primary mandate is to provide financial assistance for energy and environmental projects and protect the environment. The agency also conducts research, supports energy efficiency and energy alternative and promotes economic development. In cooperation with the Missouri Clean Water Commission, the Safe Drinking Water Commission and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the EIERA helped establish the Missouri State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF provides below market loan monies to communities and districts for construction of wastewater and drinking water projects. The EIERA, in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Division of Energy, developed the Missouri Energy Efficiency Leveraged Loan Program to provide funds to city and county governments and public school districts for energy efficiency improvements in facilities or buildings.

Herzing will present how the Missouri Market Development Program promotes the development of markets for recovered materials and recycled content products throughout Missouri by providing financial incentives, technical assistance and information services to businesses, governments and other organizations.

Join her on Wednesday evening, October 24, 2012 at the VFW, 123 West Monroe Street, Memphis, MO. For more information, contact Melody Whitacre, NEMO RPC, 660-465-7281, ext. 6.
