Dr. Harlo Donelson Receives H-LG Distinguished Alumni Award



Dr. Harlo Donelson is presented 2012 Distinguished Alumnus award from Hannibal-LaGrange University. Steve Miller, Vice President of Institutional Advancement presented the award.


Hannibal-LaGrange University recognized the annual alumni award winners during the 2012 Hollywood Homecoming Friday Entertainment on October 5. This year's Distinguished Alumnus award went to Dr. Harlo Donelson, Class of 1952.

Dr. Donelson graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Hannibal-LaGrange in 1952. He then earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Missouri State University in Fayette, MO and his Doctorate of Dental Science degree from the Kansas City School of Dentistry. On September 24, 2012, he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his dental practice in Memphis, MO.

Dr. Donelson is also very active in his community. He's a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Community Players, The Industrial Development Committee, a member and former trustee of the American Dental Association and much more. He was awarded a Fellowship in the American College of Dentists in 1999. His passions include flowers and music.

Dr. Donelson was married to Joyce for 52 years before her death in 2008. He has one son, Wesley, who's married to Debbie and they have 2 daughters in Long Island, NY.

The Distinguished Alumnus award is the most prestigious award presented to a Hannibal-LaGrange graduate for significant and broad accomplishments in business or professional life or for state or nation. This award is for developed talent that reflects favorably on the quality of Hannibal-LaGrange University, the faculty, and the administration. The alumni must be distinguished in his or her chosen business, profession or life work; they must be a person of great integrity, stature, demonstrated ability and renown in which the faculty, staff, students and alumni of the college can take pride, and be inspired by his or her recognition.

Hannibal-LaGrange is a four-year Christian university fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
