HEATHER NICHOLE WARD

Heather Nichole Ward, 38, of rural Canton, MO formerly of Memphis, MO, passed away early Saturday morning January 21, 2012, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, after a lengthy illness. She was born September 29, 1973, in Memphis, MO, the daughter of Ray and Connie Ward, and Kathy Swindler.

She attended grade school and graduated from Scotland County R-I High School, Memphis, MO, with the class of 1992. She played in the band and was a member of the Jazz Band and Ann's Girls. She also graduated from Vatterott College in Quincy, IL.

Heather worked at the Scotland County Hospital and as a unit secretary at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL until her health wouldn't let her work. She loved to be outdoors working in her flower garden. She also loved to be around horses and her dog Gizmo. Her main thing in life was to watch her daughters grow up. She could make the best fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Lawrence Ward, and step-grandfather Lloyd Ward.

She is survived by her fiancÚ, Lee Raleigh, of Canton, MO, three daughters: Natasha Barnhart, Tayler Davis and Kailee Davis, her parents Ray and Connie Ward, of Memphis, MO and Kathy Swindler, one sister; Kristi Stansberry, two nieces Tierra, Josalyn and one nephew Landon all of Ottumwa, IA, one grandmother; Bonnie Ward of Memphis, MO, one step-grandmother; Marjorie Ward of Rutledge, MO, grandparents Joe and Marylin Shipley of Ottumwa, IA; also with Lee's sister Dee and Kevin Strahl of LaBelle, MO, and their children Hunter and Levi, several uncles, aunts, great-uncles, great-aunts and many cousins, along with a host of many friends.

Memorials has been suggested to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO. Officiating the service was Pastor David Howlett with interment following in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO.

Pallbearers were her cousins; Kelly Ward, Denny Ward, Corry Ward, Brian Ward, Robert Ward and Brad Billings. Honorary Pallbearers were Kevin Strahl and Kristy Eggleston-Wood.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
