VELMA MAE CLARK

Velma Mae Clark, 93 of Keokuk, Iowa formerly of Downing, Missouri passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the River Hills Village Retirement Center in Keokuk, Iowa.
The daughter of Martin and Iva (Pierce) Johnson, she was born on June 18, 1918 in Lake City, Iowa. On June 18, 1935 in Lake City, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Myrven Edgar Clark and to this union three children were born, Robert Edgar, William David and Janet Kay.
Velma is survived by her two sons, Robert Clark and wife, Mary of Olympia, Washington and David Clark and wife, Jane of Keokuk, Iowa; a daughter, Janet Tucker and husband, Loren of Hannibal, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Timothy Clark of Keokuk, Iowa, Todd Clark of Keokuk, Iowa, Brian Clark of Olympia, Washington, Brett Clark and wife Stacy of Ellensburg, Washington, Heather Tucker of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Stacie Tucker of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Eric Tucker and wife, Kelly of Amarillo, Texas; 6 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Terran, Cullen and Annalise Clark and Kate Tucker; 1 brother, Paul Johnson; two nieces; 1 nephew and other family members.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar on September 25, 2004; one sister, Emma Anderson and two brothers, Dale and Duane Johnson.
Velma was a resident of Schuyler County, Missouri for 65 years, living on a farm north of Downing, Missouri and later in town until she moved to Keokuk, Iowa in 2006. Until her health failed, she enjoyed sharing flowers and baked goods with friends and neighbors and making afghans as a Downing Depot fundraiser. She was active in the Downing Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Opportunity Club and Red Hatters.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, Missouri with David Barton, Pastor of the Downing Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Clark, Todd Clark, Eric Tucker, Ronnie Brown, Ed Elder and Vaughn Ruth. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 between the hours of 4-6:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Downing Baptist Church in Downing, Missouri. Burial will be in the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, Missouri.
