Lance Ray Peterson, 51, Memphis, Missouri, died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri.

He was born January 3, 1961 at Bloomfield, Iowa, to Theodore Raymond and Donna Joan Garrett Peterson.

He grew up at Milton, Iowa and was a 1980 graduate of Fox Valley High School in Milton.

Lance was a truck driver. He enjoyed music and playing poker, playing as often as he could with the Texas Hold'em group in Memphis. He received his most enjoyment when he could spend time with his family and especially his granddaughter.

He is survived by a son, Derek Peterson, of Memphis; two daughters: Jennifer Talbert and her husband, Chris, of Memphis and Lacey Peterson of Fairfield, Iowa; his parents, Donna and Theodore Peterson of Memphis and a granddaughter, Kayden Talbert. Other survivors include two sisters: Nikki Adams and her husband, Jeff, of Memphis; Korki Shumaker and her husband, Brian, of Kirksville, Missouri; a half-brother, Bruce Dempsey of Memphis; nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery at Milton, Iowa. Casket bearers will be Jeff Adams, Dave Becthel, Brian Bush, Kevin McQuid, Brian Shumaker, Anthony Shultz, Chris Talbert, and Jimmy Walker. Honorary bearers will be Hammer Riojas, Warren Jennings, Mike Swarts, Kim Roberts, Shawn Wilson, Elif Raymer and Tom Huntsman.

Visitation will open at the funeral home after 9 A.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, with the family present to greet relatives and friends from 6 until 8 P.M.
