MARY CORNELIUS ROCKHOLD
(6/14/1923 - 3/2/2012)



Mary Cornelius Rockhold, 88, Memphis, Missouri, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

She was born June 14, 1923, at Baring, MO, to John and Mary Cecelia Delaney Fetters.

She grew up in Baring and was a graduate of Memphis High School. She attended Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville for one year. She taught at Friendship and Leeper country schools in Scotland County and also worked as a social worker.

She married Jess Lee Rockhold on November 28, 1945, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kahoka, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born.

Mary was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Memphis and was also a member of the St. John's Altar Society.

She had a passion for shopping and rarely passed up an opportunity to go. She realized her greatest enjoyment when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters; Patricia S. Hyde and her husband, Jerry, of Memphis, Missouri and Penny Jones of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Melissa Archer and her husband, Keith; Stephanie Hager, Kyle Wilson and his wife, Jessie; Rebecca Mueller and her husband, John; Kimberly Ibrahim and her husband, Rauf; six step- grandchildren: Trevor Lewis, Kana Hudson, Brandon Wilson, Amanda Wilson, Jamie Raines, Zack Raines; nine great-grandchildren: Levi Woollums, Lucas Woollums, Evan Hager, Dillon Hager, Branden Hager, Sophronia Hager, Kallie Wilson, Michael Mueller, Maddie Mueller and two step great grandchildren: Kale Clark and Kristen Clark. Other survivors include a brother, John Fetters and his wife, Marilyn, of Canton, MO; three sisters: Betty Fetters, Joan DeRosear and her husband, Dwight and Mildred Klem and her husband, Ron, all of Memphis; nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jess, on May 9, 2006; a sister, Martha Ellen Gundy and a son-in-law, John Jones.

Visitation opened at noon at the Memphis Funeral home on Sunday, March 4, 2012, with the family present to greet relatives and friends from 4 until 6 P.M. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John's Catholic Church in Memphis on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11 A.M. with Father Joseph Hoi officiating. Music was provided by Brent Karhoff, soloist and Teresa Cicela, organist. Cremation followed the service.

Casket bearers were Keith Archer, Eric DeRosear, Mike Gundy, Mitch Gundy, Jeff Klem and Kyle Wilson. Honorary bearers were David DeRosear, Kevin Gundy, Evan Hager, Rauf Ibrahim, Todd Klem, John Mueller and Levi Woollums.
