LEE VERN BULLOCK
(6/18/1925 - 3/27/2012)



Lee Vern Bullock, 86, of Memphis, Missouri passed away Tuesday morning, March 27, 2012 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis. The son of Harvey and Hazel (Mathews) Bullock, he was born June 18, 1925 at Stuttgart, Arkansas.

After school he joined the service, serving in the U.S. Army during WWII.

After returning home he married Dorothy Jean Hay, his beloved wife and devoted friend, and to this union five children were born: Deanna, Kathy, Sherry, Beverly, and Gary. She preceded him in death in January of 2000.

Vern bought a farm and raised his family, making farming his career and lifetime of work. He raised both livestock and did row cropping as well.

In his spare time he enjoyed the hobbies of bowling, golf, playing all types of cards and a good game of pool.

Those that have preceded him in death were his parents, his wife, two grandsons, Jr. and Scott; two brothers, one sister and one son-in-law.

He is survived by his son, Gary Bullock and his wife Karen of Macon, Missouri; four daughters Beverly Seppelt and husband Bob of Denver, Colorado, Sherry Bullock of Florida and companion Steve Hilpert, Kathy Laird and her husband Steve of Burlington, Iowa and Deanna Singleton of Ashton, Missouri; grandchildren Kendall, Asheley, Daniel, Brandon, Amy, Carrie, Jennie, Travis, Ken, Darin and Stephanie; numerous great-grandchildren, two sisters, Opal Hall and Jean Campbell.

Memorials are suggested to either the Pleasant Hill Cemetery or the Memphis Pool Hall and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held at the Payne Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Officiating the service was Brother Mike Cantril. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Scotland County, Missouri northeast of Memphis with the Wallace W. Gillespie V.F.W. Post #4958 of Memphis providing full military honors at the graveside.

Pallbearers were Ken Seppelt, Darin Laird, John Dodge, Brandon, Daniel and Kendall Bullock. Honorary Pallbearers were Paul Campbell, David and Bob Seppelt.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
