DONALD WAYNE ANCELL
(11/13/1939 - 9/11/12)



Donald Wayne Ancell, 72, of Huntsville, MO, died Tuesday morning at Landmark Hospital in Columbia. He had been in failing health. Don was born November 13, 1939 in Middle Grove, MO, to Thomas Arthur, Sr., and Mary Lee (Epperly) Ancell.

Don served in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. He then worked for the railroad before joining the Missouri Highway Patrol, retiring in 1994 with the rank of Sergeant. He was then elected Randolph County Sheriff in 1996, serving until 2004. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard and the Higbee United Methodist Church.

He married Peggy Rogers on September 6, 1961 in Higbee, MO, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Cliff Ancell and wife Linda of Huntsville, Gregory Don Ancell of Huntsville, two grandchildren, Daniel Wayne Ancell of Wentzville, MO, Tabitha Brooke Ancell of Florissant, MO, a great-grandson Collin (Cole) Ancell of Wentzville and Moberly, a brother Carl Clifford Ancell and his wife Brenda of Macon, nieces, nephews, a special cousin Jesse Jo Ancell of Moberly, other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Christopher Michael Ancell, and two brothers Thomas A. Ancell, Jr., and George Ancell.

Memorial contributions to the Moberly Community Kitchen are suggested.

Services were held Friday, September 14, 2012 at Cater Funeral Home Chapel with committal prayers and military honors at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville.
