Mustangs Race to 61-30 Victory Over SCR-I

To say Scotland County came out of the Christmas break a bit rusty, may have been an understatement, as the Tigers struggled through a frigid shooting night at Philadelphia on January 3rd allowing Marion County to down the Tigers 61-30.

SCR-I managed just one field goal in the opening quarter, a three-pointer by Brice Cowell as the Mustangs raced out to a 15-3 advantage.

It didn't get much prettier in the second period, as the lone points came on field goals by Harley Stone and Cowell. Marion County led 27-7 at the intermission.

The shooting woes carried over to the free throw line, where SCR-I made just four of 12 attempts from the charity stripe.

Andrew Mathes had a pair of field goals in the third period and Harley Stone connected on a three pointer but Marion County still outscored the Tigers 16-10 to add to the 43-17 cushion with just eight minutes left to play.

Drew Miller put in five points down the stretch for Scotland County but Marion County went on to the 61-30 win.

Scotland County (5-5) was led in scoring by Mathes with eight points. Miller finished with six points.

Marion County was led in scoring by Kason Spratt with 12 points and Clay Pollard with 11 points.
