Canton Cruises Past Tigers With Big Second Half Advantage

William McRobert

A three-point game at halftime turned into a blowout in the fourth period as Canton outscored Scotland County 34-18 in the final 16 minutes of Tuesday night's game in Memphis en route to the 58-39 victory.

The Tigers kept pace early. Harley Stone had six points in the first period and Jacob Blessing and Cordie Kigar added three pointers to keep SCR-I within a bucket at 14-12.

Kigar connected from distance again in the second period and Stone, Andrew Mathes and Lucas Howard added buckets for the Tigers, who trailed 24-21 at halftime.

Drew Miller scored all eight of his points in the third period, but it wasn't enough to prevent Canton from extending the lead to 42-32 at the end of three periods of play.

The fourth quarter was all Canton, with the Tigers outscoring the home team 16-5 down the stretch to coast to the 58-39 win.

Stone led Scotland County (7-11) with 10 points. Miller finished with eight points and Kigar and Mathes each added six points.

Gabe McKenzie led a balanced Canton attack with 12 points. Nick Janney and Brandon Berhorst added 11 points in the winning effort.
