SCR-I Grounds Green City 8-2 to Win Tournament

Harley Stone tuned in his second dominating pitching performance of the young baseball season and Scotland County rolled to an 8-2 victory over Green City to claim the title of the Tri-Rivers Tournament held in Unionville on March 31st.

The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead. Cordie Kigar led off the game with a double. He stole third base and scored on a sacrifice fly by Drew Miller.

SCR-I made it 3-0 in the second inning. Jacob Blessing reached on an error. He stole second base and came in to score on a base hit by Brice Cowell. After a double by Jacob Hull, Tyler Buford drove in Cowell with a sacrifice fly.

Green City tallied its two runs in the third inning, courtesy of a pair of base hits and a walk.

The Tigers also plated two runs in the third inning. Drew Miller walked. Courtesy runner Zach Miller stole two bases before Stone was walked. Andrew Mathes drove in a run with an RBI double before Ben Shannan followed with an RBI ground out to make it 5-2.

The Tigers put the game away with three more runs in the fourth.

Singles by Buford and Kigar set the table for Stone to deliver a two-run double. Mathes knocked him in with a single.

Stone finished off the victory to improve to 2-0 on the year. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks. The senior struck out 11 in five innings of work.

He also got the job done at the plate, going 1-2 with a pair of RBIs. Mathes was 2-3 with two RBIs and Kigar was 2-4.
