Rowan Johnson streaks to the front of the pack to open the 4x800 meter relay at the Scotland County Relays on April 26th.

A strong showing in the field events helped the Scotland County boys track team defend its home field, taking first place in the Scotland County Relays on Thursday evening.

The Tigers won the meet, compiling 108 points to edge Clark County, which finished second with 94 points. Milan was third with 93 points followed by Putnam County (85), Schuyler County (56), Knox County (53) and North Shelby (37).

SCR-I won two of the field events while picking up second place finishes in two others. Monty Sally was tops in the discus with a throw of 126'2". Teammate William Masden finished third with a throw of 110'11". The duo also picked up points in the shot put. Masden was second with a toss of 42'9, while Sally was sixth.

Lucas Howard took top honors in the triple jump, with a distance of 39'1". He was second in the high jump, topping out at 5'6".

The sophomore rounded out his big day by winning the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.62 seconds and taking second in the 300-meter hurdles.

Zach Miller racked up the points for SCR-I on the track. The junior took second place in a tie breaker in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.75 seconds. Miller earned second place in the 200-meter dash, with teammate Tyler Small finishing in sixth.

Small also earned sixth place points in the long jump.

Logan Payne finished fourth in the 3,200-meter run and was fifth in the 1,600-meter. Morgan Carlton was sixth in the 3,200 meter relay.

Chris Jackson finished fourth in the 400-meter run and Joseph Hite was sixth in the 800-meter run.

Scotland County finished second in the 4x400 meter relay and the 4x800-meter relay while finishing sixth in the 4x100.

That left just one event out of 17, the 4x200-meter relay, that SCR-I did not earn points in on the day.
