Plans Announced for Start of 2012 SCR-I Football Season

Football training camps will be kicking off soon across the nation. Professional players will be reporting to their NFL team's next week in anticipation of the start of the 2012-13 season. Aspiring high school athletes will be doing the same.

The Scotland County R-I High School football team camp will be held July 23rd - 27th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., except for July 27th, when camp times will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"I would like to invite everyone to come to football camp who would be interested in playing this fall," said first-year coach Daniel Burns. "All are welcome."

Anyone interested in playing football this fall needs to be sure to have their medical physical completed before July 23rd if they haven't had one or didn't do the Paws and Claws Clinic in May. The new physical forms are available in the high school office or at the Memphis Medical Clinic.

Also, anyone interested in being a student-manager for the football team is asked to contact Coach Burns at 660-292-0977.

There will be a Parent/Player meeting with the coaching staff on Monday, July 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school commons.

SCR-I football practice will officially kickoff August 6th with two-a-days beginning at 6 a.m. The team will host two practices daily through August 10th prior to the start of school.
