Lady Tigers Bat Around in 7th to Cap Off Canton 13-4

Scotland County saved the best for last on Thursday night in Canton, waiting until the team's final at bat to send 12 batters to the plate en route to an eight run inning that produced a 13-4 victory.

The Lady Tigers jumped on top 1-0 in the first. Megan Creek reached on an error and came in to score on a base hit by Bethany Rader.

SCR-I made it 2-0 in the third. Creek again was on base courtesy of a Canton error. She scored on a base hit by Randi Slaughter.

Canton trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the frame when Jen Cresnhaw led off with a triple off Rader and later came in to score.

In the fourth inning, the Lady Tigers plated three runs. Claire Shannan started the rally with a base hit. After a single by Olivia Harris, Creek delivered a two-run double. She scored on a RBI single by Slaughter to make it 5-1.

Coach Kim Small went to the bullpen in the fifth inning, when Canton loaded the bases against Rader. Creek was able to get out of the inning with SCR-I still ahead 5-4.

Slaughter capped off a big night at the plate with a pair of base hits in the top of the seventh inning as SCR-I plated eight runs. Shaye Wright delivered a two-run double and Slaughter notched a pair of RBIs with her second hit of the inning.

Rader was credited with the victory, going 4 1/3 innings. She was charged with four runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks while striking out five. Creek notched the save, going three innings, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out two.

Slaughter was 4-5 with the bat, driving in three runs. Shannan went 3-4 and Harris was 2-4. while Creek finished 2-5 with four runs scored.

The win pushes SCR-I's season mark to 12-4.
