FFA Redneck Games Are A Splash!

The Swamp People team of Logan Payne, Sarah Sites, Brice Cowell, Paige McClamroch and Justin Girardin combined to take first place in the Memphis FFA Chapter's Redneck Games.

The Memphis FFA Chapter recently had a fun filled day full of games that weren't exactly what you would call "typical".

Two teams of students participated in events designed for the Redneck in all of us, including: Redneck Bowling (tires and trashcans), Redneck Horseshoes (steel posts and toilet seats), Tire Dash (high knee tire relay race), Hubcap Hurl, Human wheelbarrow race, Mudslide, Belly flop and Mattress Surfing (all in the mud pit).

Epic belly flops were made by President Sarah Sites and Shane Gunnell while surfing skills were shown by Paige McClamroch and Sentinel Dustin Humphrey as they rode a mattress 70 feet through a mud pit while pulled by a 4-wheeler.

Students cheered on each other as they bowled tires into trash cans and flipped toilet seats around steel posts to rack up points towards a victory.

The winning team, "Swamp People" consisted of Logan Payne, Sarah Sites, Brice Cowell, Paige McClamroch and Justin Girardin. All team members received gold Olympic medals (large washers with baling twine) and a trophy.

The runners up received silver Olympic medals. The "B Team" consisted of Chelsea Burkhiser, Dustin Humphrey, Shane Gunnell, Brianna Priebe and Alexis Dodge.

The FFA Alumni served a great meal during the event in conjunction with the efforts of numerous donors. The event was hosted at the fairgrounds, courtesy of the Scotland County Fair Board.

The Memphis FFA Chapter plans to have another exciting edition of the Redneck Games next summer at the Scotland County Fairgrounds and hopes to see you all there.
