Lady Tigers Ride Balanced Attack to Win Over Raiders

A balanced scoring attack helped the Scotland County girls remain unbeaten on the young basketball season with a 45-27 victory over North Shelby on December 4th in Memphis.

Hailey Dial and Randi Slaughter hit three pointers to help SCR-I build a 9-4 lead in the first period.

North Shelby kept the contest close with a solid second quarter. Jessica Morrow had a pair of field goals that helped the Lady Tigers expand the lead to 22-14 at the intermission.

Scotland County took control of the game in the third period. Bethany Rader had seven points and Slaughter had a pair of field goals as the Lady Tigers outscored North Shelby 16-8 to push the margin to 38-22.

The game could have been much closer but North Shelby struggled mightily at the free throw line. The Lady Raiders made just three of 17 free throw attempts on the night.

Six of those misses came in the fourth period, as North Shelby was unable to cut into the lead despite the fact SCR-I managed just seven points in the final eight minutes.

Slaughter topped the scorebook for SCR-I with nine points. Rader and Megan Creek each finished with eight points while Dial added seven points and Morrow pitched in with six points.

Scotland County improved to 5-0 with the victory.
