Long-Range Shooting Keeps SCR-I Unbeaten

Long-distance shooting was the difference on Tuesday night in Unionville, as Scotland County connected on seven three-pointers en route to a 48-29 demolition of the Lady Midgets.

Randi Slaughter started the barrage for the visitors. She found the rims to her liking in Unionville. The sophomore point guard knocked down three shots from behind the arc as SCR-I rushed out to a 17-6 lead. Hailey Dial added a pair of field goals for the hot shooting Lady Tigers.

The tempo slowed a bit in the second quarter. Katie Howard drilled a three pointer and Jessica Morrow had two buckets in the paint. Putnam County matched the Lady Tigers output and kept the deficit at 26-15 heading into halftime.

Dial's three-pointer in the third period was the difference as Scotland County pushed the margin to 34-22 with just eight minutes to play.

Howard put the game away with two more three-pointers. Shaye Wright added a pair of field goals in the fourth period as SCR-I closed out on a 14-7 run to win 48-29.

Scotland County improved to 7-0 and 3-0 in the Tri-Rivers Conference. Slaughter, Howard and Dial each had nine points to lead SCR-I in scoring. Morrow finished with eight points.
