Teacher Resigns at Special Board Meeting

A Scotland County R-I teacher will remain on paid administrative leave the remainder of the 2012-13 school year until her resignation takes effect at the completion of the current class session in May.

The SCR-I Board of Education met in a specially scheduled executive session on Monday, February 5th, to accept the resignation of Special Education instructor Cheyenne Pinson. The school district indicated the resignation was tendered for personal reasons.

Pinson has been on administrative leave since October 6th, 2012 when the Missouri State Highway Patrol executed a search warrant at her rural Clark County home.

Pinson and her husband, Mitchell, were taken into custody at that time when an alleged marijuana manufacturing operation was uncovered at the residence.

Mitchell Pinson has been charged with two counts of the class B felony of distribution, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance - marijuana, and one charge of class C felony possession of a controlled substance. A change of venue hearing is scheduled for March 28th in the Clark County Circuit Court.

At this time no charges have been filed against Ms. Pinson by the Clark County Prosecutors Office.
