Dates Announced for 2013 Scotland County Fair

The Scotland County Fair Board has announced the 2013 fair dates, July 8th through the 13th.

While the weather forecast is calling for more winter, that hasn't stopped a group of local enthusiasts from making plans for one of the area's longest running traditions. Plans are currently underway for the 2013 Scotland County Fair. The Fair Board recently announced the 2013 fair dates, July 8th through the 13th.

This year's fair will feature a rodeo, a tractor pull, the country music showdown and the demolition derby. Additional grandstand shows will feature a hypnotist as well as a contemporary Christian music concert and a super farmer contest.

With the number of kids enrolled in 4-H nearing 100, combined with the number of FFA students that swell those ranks, the traditional livestock shows will continue to be a huge draw for the event.

A contract is already in place to bring a carnival to the fairgrounds throughout the week-long festivities.

To help fund the 2013 lineup and continued improvements at the fairgrounds, the fair board is seeking sponsors for the 2013 fair. Three levels of sponsorship will be available. Boosters giving between $250 to $499 will be silver level sponsors. Gifts ranging from $500 to $999 will earn a gold level sponsorship recognition, with boosters donating more than $1,000 earning platinum level recognition.

Sponsorship will include official recognition during the fair, including broadcast announcements during grandstand events. These donors will also be honored in the fair book and on signage at the grounds and in additional advertising including the fair's website. Sponsors will also receive free season passes.

The advertising for the 2013 event will also be undergoing a change. The fair book will transition to a smaller, more portable format that will feature full-color, glossy pages that are sure to make it a keepsake.

Fair board members have already begun preparing the fair book content and advertisers will be contacted in the upcoming weeks to solicit support for the 2013 publication. Ad costs will range from $200 for a half page ad to $50 for 1/8 page size.

For information on being part of the 2013 fair, to make a donation or to contract advertisement in the fair book contact any of the current fair board members: Christine Marlowe, Lane Campbell, Jim Jones, Julie Blessing, Danny Norton, Chris Montgomery, Curtis Mallett, Mark Mallett, or Linda Mallett.
