Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrests
A traffic stop resulted in a pair of drug violations being cited for two Memphis residents. According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, a deputy pulled over a blue 2004 Pontiac Grand-Am on Highway 15 north of Memphis near the Route EE junction.
The officer checked the car allegedly traveling at 74 mph in a 55 mph zone.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, the officer located drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
The driver, Kimberly R. Burnett, 26, was cited with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.
A passenger in the car, Austin L. Garrett, 21, was also cited with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Burnett was also cited for speeding.
Arraignment was scheduled for April 15th in the Scotland County Circuit Court. Both individuals currently are on felony probation from 2012 cases - Burnett for class C felony stealing and Garrett for class D felony possession of precursors used in the manufacture of meth.
