Hospital CEO Marcia Dial Receives National Leadership Award

Marcia R. Dial, CEO at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis was recently notified that she is one of 30 recipients of the Becker's Hospital Review Leadership Awards. The awards recognize men and women who have made remarkable contributions and will leave lasting legacies to their respective health systems, hospitals and communities. The nominations were considered by a panel of editorial team members and healthcare industry experts.

Whether it be financial acumen, transparent leadership style or bright ideas for care delivery and payment reform, these awardees have demonstrated valuable traits the healthcare industry needs in times of change and uncertainty. The Becker's Hospital Review Leadership Awards winners are recognized as being determined, dedicated and innovative. They have extended their leadership and vision beyond the confines of their organization to improve the well-being of their local communalities.

Ms. Dial's nomination reflected on the many years of service to Scotland County Hospital as both the CFO, in the early years, and her position as CEO since 1988. She has been with SCH for 38 years and has used her unique visionary leadership to move the hospital from a staff of 2 family practice physicians and a $4 million budget in the late 80's to nearly 25 physicians and a $35 million budget today. Furthermore, during her tenure, as a skilled and successful grant writer, she has brought in over $4 million in grant monies to the organization for programs, services, equipment, buildings & renovations. "Her foresight has always moved us in the right direction," said Dwight DeRosear, a long time hospital board member from Memphis. "Our hospital would be in dire straits without her vision for recruiting quality physicians and building facilities & services to offer our patients & families quality & comfort with their healthcare."

Ms. Dial shares this recognition with CEO's and executives from mega health systems across the nation including the CEO of Sinai Health Systems in Chicago, CIO of Cleveland Clinics and top healthcare executives in metropolitan areas such as San Diego, Dallas and Washington D.C. Becker's will give Ms. Dial a token of appreciation for her hard work and service and recognition at the 4th Annual Becker's Hospital Review Conference in May in Chicago.

Becker's Hospital Review is a publication that features up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems.
