Gorin R-III Board Appoints Two New Members

The Gorin R-III Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, May 21st. President Tague called the meeting to order at 5:15.

The first order of business was interviews. The board interviewed two teacher candidates. Discussion took place in executive session.

Next, the board approved the consent agenda items.

Under old business, Mrs. Townsend shared the carnival was a success. The event took in $3,600, but expenses still would need to be taken out. Next, Mrs. Townsend shared the bus had no reported issues. The board then reviewed the community forum meeting. The board was pleased with the turnout, questions, and overall meeting. Mrs. Townsend shared the school attorney was very pleased with how the meeting was conducted.

In new business, the Board reviewed the Title I Parent Involvement Plan. Bob Sears made the motion to approve the plan and Ryan Miller seconded. All voted in favor. Next, the board discussed maintenance for the summer. Then, Mrs. Townsend shared the district had 13 students enrolled for summer school.

The board moved into executive session at 7:52 p.m. The board received a letter of resignation from Mrs. Heather Shirey and Mrs. Nancy Peterson. Diane Tague made the motion to accept the resignations and Ryan Miller seconded. All voted in favor. The board also accepted a letter of resignation from board member Tammi Dale. Following, Mrs. Sherrill Clatt and Mr. Albert Peterson were appointed to the vacant positions on the board.

The board then reviewed the interview candidates. Bob Sears made a motion to offer the contract to Mrs. Kathy Yearns. Ryan Miller seconded. All voted in favor.

The board then moved out of executive session and immediately adjourned from regular session.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Tuesday, June 18th at 6:30 p.m.
