Stolen Car Lands Memphis Woman in Jail
A Memphis woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a local repair shop.
According to the Memphis Police Department, Jennifer Gregory, 32, of Memphis has been charged with the class C felony of tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree. She was arrested on June 25th.
The police received a report of a stolen vehicle, filed by a Memphis resident on June 21st. Nova Montgomery reported that her 1991 Chevrolet Corsica had been removed from the parking lot at RPM in Memphis, without her permission.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that Gregory had taken the vehicle without Montgomery's permission. The two women reportedly had discussed the sale of the vehicle, but the deal fell through.
According to the PD, Gregory took the vehicle without Montgomery's permission, and without making financial arrangements for the payment of the repair bills at the shop.
The vehicle was located abandoned near Montrose, IA near the intersection of Highway 218 and 61, where Gregory reportedly encountered mechanical issues with the car.
Gregory was taken into custody on a $2,500 bond. She was released with a July 9th court date.
