Square to Host Back to School Bash on Saturday

This obstacle course will challenge kids at the Back to School Bash Saturday, which will also feature a free laptop giveaway.

Kids looking for one last hoorah before school starts next week in Scotland County, are invited to the Back to School Fair to be held on the Memphis City Square on Saturday, August 17th.

The event, sponsored by Ignite Ministries, will feature a variety of activities from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the east side of the square.

Headlining the day will be a laptop computer giveaway. A Dell laptop computer from Cody's Computers of Memphis will be given away to one lucky Back to School Basher. Any student in kindergarten through 12th grade will be eligible for the free drawing to take home the laptop computer. Attendees simply need to stop by the booth to pick up their free ticket for the drawing that will be held at the close of the event.

Free hot dogs and soda will be available for patrons as well as snow cones and popcorn. Guests will also have the opportunity to try and tackle the 65-foot inflatable bounce house obstacle course. The 13-foot-wide monster is being provided by Rockin' Rents of Columbia. Kids and adults will be able to run, jump, climb and slide their way through the course that features a 16-foot slide as only one of the many obstacles. Additional bounce house activities will also be available courtesy of Rockin' Rents as well as Craig and Sandra Swearingen of Memphis. The later will also be providing the Happy Train for train rides for the kiddies.

Organizer Les Richmond stated there are numerous other kids' games being planned for the afternoon.

The entire event is free of charge and open to the public.
