Stolen Trailer Recovered in Des Moines
A trailer stolen in Scotland County earlier this month has turned up in Des Moines, IA, but more than $50,000 in property is still missing.
The Scotland County Sheriff's Office indicated that a gooseneck trailer stolen from the Roger Fox residence has been recovered in the Iowa city. The Des Moines Police Department contacted the sheriff's office reporting the trailer had been recovered in a mall parking lot at a construction site.
The empty trailer had reportedly been sitting at the site for several weeks when the construction company was asked to move the trailer. After determining the trailer did not belong to the contractors, records were reviewed and the investigators discovered the trailer had been stolen in Missouri.
The sheriff's office reported the trailer and its contents, a 2009 CAT skidloader, were attached to a white 2001 GMC pickup parked at the Fox residence, on Ridge Road, two miles south of Memphis. The vehicle and trailer were reportedly stolen from the residence during the evening of August 7th.
The trailer was recovered on August 22nd, minus the pickup, the loader and a large amount of loader accessories. It was scheduled to be retrieved by Lakeside Towing and returned to Scotland County as evidence in the theft case.
