Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage Open House to Showcase Sustainability in Action

Solar panels, like these seen beening installed by Dancing Rabbit residents, will be on display at the ecovillage's open house September 21st.

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is hosting an Annual Open House and Village Fair on Saturday September 21st, from 1-4 p.m. in Rutledge, MO.

The Open House and Village Fair are an opportunity to see, up close and personal, all the ways in which Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is modeling sustainable living. Visitors will be able to see houses built with straw and clay, organic gardens and orchards, an electric car and car co-op, solar panels and wind turbines, and much more! Friendly and knowledgeable residents will be available to answer questions, and unique locally-made crafts and goods will be for sale at the Village Fair. Free tours begin every half hour between 1 and 4 p.m.

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, founded in 1997, has created one of the foremost sustainable living demonstration projects in the nation, and its growth and impact are steadily increasing. This village of 75 residents is demonstrating social and physical technologies that have cut residents' ecological impact by 90% compared to the average American. Through conservation, efficiency, re-localization, cooperation, and alternative technologies, Dancing Rabbit is showing that people can live rich, vibrant lives while leaving an ecological footprint that our planet can sustain.

Based firmly on principles of sustainability, Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is a living example of how society could look if we successfully transitioned to a healthy, resilient, ecological way of life. For many, Dancing Rabbit is a beacon of hope, inspiring and leading the world toward that goal.

Why go to the Open House and Village Fair? As Dancing Rabbit founder Tony Sirna said, "Whether they come to see the solar panels, the strawbale houses, the electric car, or the organic gardens, people leave Dancing Rabbit with a sense that humans really can live in harmony with the earth. An added bonus is the sense of connection and community they feel here, and which often helps them realize what they want more of in their own lives."
