Illinois Couple Nabbed in Scotland County on Felony Warrants

A pair of wanted felons from Illinois were apprehended in Scotland County last week. According to the Scotland County Sheriff's office a husband and wife were taken into custody at a rural Scotland County residence on September 11th.

The Pike County Sheriff's Department contacted local law enforcement regarding the two individuals, who had failed to appear in court on drug charges in August. Investigators indicated that information had been attained that led them to believe the couple was in Scotland County.

Officers from the Scotland County Sheriff's Office and the Memphis Police Department located the couple's whereabouts and made contact with Bruce J. Richards at a home six miles northwest of Memphis.

Richards, age 26, was taken into custody without incident, but reported that Yvonne M. Waggoner Richards was not at the residence.

Investigators left the scene but doubled back for a second look, ultimately locating Mrs. Richards, age 44, hiding in an adjacent cornfield.

Bruce Richards was wanted on a felony warrant for failure to appear on possession of methamphetamine charges as well as charges of reckless driving. Yvonne Waggoner Richards was wanted on a charge of failure to appear for a pretrial hearing on possession of meth charges.

A bench warrant had been issued for her arrest in March of 2013. A bench warrant was issued for Bruce Richards after he failed to appear for an August hearing.

Both warrants originated from Pike County, IL. After their arrests, the couple was extradited to Illinois.
