Former Resident Hurt in Crash on Route A

A head-on collision in Adair County has left two northeast Missouri motorists battling injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Elizabeth C. Dalton, 21, of Kirksville, was eastbound on Route A, three quarters of a mile west of Willmathsville when the 1998 Dodge Caravan she was driving crossed the center line and struck an oncoming 1994 Chevrolet truck head on. Dalton's vehicle came to rest in the roadway while the truck came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the roadway.

Dalton, formerly of Memphis, sustained serious injuries in the crash. She was transported by Air Evac helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

The driver of the pickup, John P. March, 58, of Greentop, sustained moderate injuries. He was transported by Adair County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County Ambulance, Kirksville Fire Department and Greentop Fire Department.
